“Resilience, or resiliency, is positive adaptation, the ability to survive, and thrive from, stressful experiences while building up protective skills to manage future hardship. Psychological resilience involves the ability to spring back or recover, maintain or regain mental health, despite experiencing adversity, and involves the adaptation of cognitive, emotional, social, and physical skills.”

About me

Empathetic Counselling Support

Hello, my name is Deb, and I am a Registered Clinical Supervisor & Registered Clinical Counsellor and Psychotherapist with the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), and the Australian Counselling Association (ACA Level 4).

I provide individual counselling to adults, children and adolescents, and counselling support to couples. Additionally, I also provide psychosocial mental health support and counselling at an individualised level.

I am deeply passionate about helping my clients navigate through their stuck-points they have encountered in their lives. I am deeply passionate about providing a space for them to process, make decisions, and feel empowered in their lives. I am also deeply passionate about helping clients through their past traumas. Having gone through training in trauma counselling, counselling children, adolescents and adults, I have found a deep need for the provision of empathy to clients who struggle to process deep struggles. I am very passionate about past attachment and developmental wounds in childhood or relationships and how they may impact present adult coping when encountering an unexpected crisis. I am also passionate about supporting clients going through life transitions such as single parenting, separation and divorce, and other expected or unexpected life changes.

I am known for my empathetic and congruent, person-centred and non-judgemental, strengths-based approach to counselling. I have been involved with community groups in a counselling and mentoring capacity, and individual counselling support for many years.

Are you going through anxiety, depression, loss or grief, trauma, single parenting, domestic violence, separation, divorce, managing children and adolescents? Experiencing post-traumatic stress and anxiety, or any other challenges at the moment? During my sessions, you'll find a supportive, safe space of non-judgment and empathy, where I'll help you navigate these life challenges experienced.

I specialise in helping people identify and achieve their personal goals, overcoming stuck points, by coping with the issues that are causing them distress, anxiety, and stress. I take great pride in the progress and success of my clients, and look forward to helping you. Get in touch to learn more.

I enjoy working collaboratively and compassionately with my clients in a person-centred manner, in a space of safety, discovery and understanding to help deconstruct the issues presented, do some deep work with my clients to gain greater self-awareness, uncover new solutions through deeper self-understanding. I employ a self-kindness approach, and integrate it with cognitive behaviour therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, schema therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy and other evidence-based approaches. I work with clients who have experienced trauma, whether developmental (from childhood) or incidental (relating to a specific incident or incidents), amongst other presentations.

Deb is very empathetic, understanding and easy to talk to! She makes me feel supported, and most importantly, not judged whenever I share my thoughts and feelings. Deb offers a safe space to talk about my issues and to process my thoughts. She also helps me see things from a different perspective and helps me to learn why I think or react the way I do - this has helped me deal better with tough situations in my life and has also helped heal me from past trauma. Deb is an amazing listener - thank you Deb for all your support! Would recommend, yes!
